Welcome to Trophy Sheds & Dog Cabins
Wapiti Woods sawmill was established in 2006 in response to the pine beetle epidemic. While the pine beetle epidemic has devastated large portions of Colorado forests, it has also provided us with a valuable natural resource. Lumber milled from standing dead pine trees created by the epidemic has transformed an industry that traditionally has been considered environmentally devastating to one that is environmentally responsible. The "Great Recession" of 2008, however, crippled the building industry that was increasingly becoming eco-friendly. The effects have been devastating to the lumber industry. The recession has also stranded thousands of highly skilled Colorado carpenters and craftsmen. We started Trophy Sheds and Dog Cabins because of flat lumber sales and the overpopulation of out of work carpenters. The lumber packages for Trophy Sheds and Dog Cabins are milled and cut to size in Steamboat Springs and then shipped out to a network of Colorado carpenters to be either built on site or assembled in garages. The result are rustic sheds and dog houses that utilize our devastated forest and struggling work force.
